Every day there are new discoveries on how lavender relieves tension in your stomach, skin, and mind.  Lavender is available in many different forms.  You can plant these beautiful flowers in your garden and bring them indoors for a refreshing smell in your home.  A bouquet on your desk makes computer work much easier because the sent relaxes you and reduces stress.

Flowers are the obvious way to work lavender into your everyday life, but also an Austrian study found that a lavender body wash helps reduce anxiety.  So go to your favorite bath store and buy yourself a large container of lavender scented body wash or bath suds and treat yourself after a long hard day.

Have your heard of a spice called herbes de Provence?  It is available at most grocery stores.  It is a lavender-based spice blend.  It is delicious on sautéed or grilled meats, poultry, vegetables, and whole-grain pilafs such as barley, couscous, and brown rice.  Lavender contains phytonutrients.  These are also known as the good for you plant compounds.  They aren’t essential in keeping you alive, but they are known to help in the prevention of many different diseases.

There is also a form of dried culinary lavender.  If you have a lot of bloating and poor digestion it could be from an overgrowth of bad bacteria, which often happens when we take antibiotics.  “The polyphenols (a type of antioxidant) in lavender can help reduce the “bad” bacteria in your gut”. This quote is from Christine Gerbstadt, MD, spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.  Just sprinkle dried culinary lavender onto some Greek yogurt for a gut friendly snack.

Lavender also comes in the form of essential oils.  You can put a drop into your coffee or tea.

Lavender oil can also be used for many different ailments such as bug bites, dandruff, cold sores, hay fever, lavender essentail oinausea, cuts, burns, itchy skin, sleep aids, and for reducing anxiety. Some of the methods are to just apply the oil directly to your skin and other methods include putting the oil in a cupped hand and inhaling the scent.  There is a lot of information on the web on how to treat the different ailments and there are books and pamphlets that explain different treatments for different conditions.It can also be used for mental awareness and as a natural sunscreen.

Lavender should be stored where it isn’t exposed to heat and light.  It is best if it comes in a dark bottle. There are different forms of lavender but if you get a high quality there won’t be much difference.  But you may want to try a few different brands to see if one works better for you than another.

i love lavender in all forms. I was sceptacle at first but it is all that they claim it to be
