The stove top and electric pressure cooker is wonderful for any beef recipe, especially those that use a less expensive or tougher cut of meat. The steam pressure in the cooker tenderizes the meat to a wonderful consistency. The pressure cooker recipes on this website are some of the best recipes for cooking meat.
As with most recipes, if there are spices that you or your family doesn’t like, just substitute them with your favorites. I personally like to change spices in my recipes from time to time. Sometimes you get pleasant surprises that you will want to repeat in the future.
Many times you can also substitute meats. Here is a list of cheaper cuts of meat that can be interchanged:
- Chuck Steak
- Chuck Eye Steak
- Shoulder Top Blade (also known as Flat Iron Steak)
- Shoulder Center (also known as Ranch Steak)
- Shoulder Petite Tender
- Shoulder Steak
- Chuck Roast
- Arm Roast
All of these cuts of meat work well in a pressure cooker because the steam tenderizes the meat. If you want to grill any of the above meat, definitely marinate them, otherwise they will be tough.
Another substitution you should feel free in experimenting with are the vegetables added in beef stews or beef recipes. I often will substitute the vegetables that are in season. They are higher in nutrients, flavor and availability but lower in price.
