Doesn’t the sound of this cake just make you salivate! Who doesn’t like chocolate and peanut butter? This recipe is for an extra special occasion or just to lift your spirits on a ho-hum day. The great thing is that you probably have most everything already in your pantry, all you might need is a few candy bars and you are set to make this luscious and decadent dessert.
This is made in a 4 quart slow cooker. If you don’t have one, click here to see one of the best slow cookers on the market. Even if you have a 6 quart slow cooker you will want to have a smaller one because you will find so many different recipes that use this size.
Lightly coat the inside of a 3 ½ or 4 quart slow cooker with a layer of cooking spray and set aside.
In a medium bowl stir together:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ cup chocolate milk
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
Stir to moisten and then gently fold in
- ½ cup peanut butter flavor pieces
- ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate pieces
- ½ cup chopped peanuts
Spread batter evenly in cooker.
In another bowl, mix together
- ¾ cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 1 ½ cup boiling water
Carefully pour the above mixture over ingredients in the slow cooker.
Cook for 2 to 2 ½ hours on high. Remove liner from slow cooker and set out for 30 to 40 minutes.
Most of the desserts in the slow cooker are best taken out when cooking time is finished. Leaving the dessert on warm for an extended length of time will dry the dessert out and it won’t be gooey.
To serve, spoon into desert bowls and optionally add ice cream, whipped cream, or a dessert topping.
Also add pieces of chocolate when adding the ice cream on top. Your favorite chocolate bar—Hershey, snickers, or mounds bars are my favorites. Break them into bite size pieces.
Use peanut butter chips instead of peanut butter flavor pieces.
Make peanut butter cake and then drizzle with chocolate syrup.
This yummy dessert will serve 8 of your favorite people. It is great for a dinner party or a family gathering or a pot luck dinner.

Make sure the cooker you use has a removable liner. All of the new crockpots have removable liners, but some of the older slow cookers may not have one. A liner is important because it is best to remove the dessert when the cooking is finished and let it set out for about 30 minutes.
