Maximatic is a very popular brand of pressure cooker. They are known for their ease of use and outstanding safety features. Those new to pressure cooking or those that have been using a stove top for years, might want to try an electric pressure cooker. If so, this is definitely one to consider.
Pressure cooking has become very popular again because there have been so many improvements around safety. The electric pressure cookers especially, have so many backup safety systems and digital functions that will get you the best results so easily.
Did you know that cooking with pressure will produce the highest nutrient value of you food of all the cooking methods? All the nutrients stay in the pan and aren’t lost into the atmosphere.
The main function that I love about this electric one is the browning function. You can brown directly in the cooker and not use an extra pan. Browned meat always gives extra flavor and texture to the meal and I always recommend pre browning any meat. I also recommend that you DON’T brown vegetables because this will usually cause them to become mushy.
The warming element helps to keep the meal warm if you aren’t ready to serve it right away. This isn’t usually on most pressure cookers, especially stove top varieties. This can be helpful if you are having a large group of guests and you aren’t sure exactly when you will be eating.
The guess work is taken out of how to cook rice, beans, soups and stews because there are specific programmable functions to cook these items with just a push of the button. Also, if you want to cook meats or veggies separately, there is a button for that. You’ll find this only on a top of the line electric pressure cooker.
One of best features of this pressure cooker is its size. Many people have trouble when cooking dried beans with them frothing. Because of the size, it can handle that problem easily. There is plenty of room for expantion.
Many women love this pressure cooker because their husbands love to cook in it as well. Something about men and machines! Anyway, if your husband will help more with the cooking by using this, I would say–this could be the number one reason for purchasing this jewel.
There is definitely a learning curve in using a pressure cooker for more involved meals. But it is worth the effort. If you get home late and forgot to thaw out the meat, you will learn how easy it is to make dinner starting with frozen meat. Also, cooking vegetables that turn out perfect can be snap. You’ll see how easy it is to cook them in soups or stews. They will be just right–not mushy or hard.
In the easy of use category, there is a removable insert that is simple to take out making cleanup quick and easy.
Some use this larger pressure cooker for canning. If you do a lot of canning, you probably want to check out one of the super large cooker/canners, but you will be able to can a few pint jars in this.
The two sturdy handles on each side (above) help you to balance this pressure cooker when moving it. Having two handles is important on the large size cookers. This is comparable to the pressure cooker in the famous infomercial, but larger and for a lower price.
There is a 9 hour delay timer where you can prepare everything ahead of time and then it will automatically start the cooking process. This is really convenient for cooking rice or veggies or soups and stews without meat. Personally, I question the safety of putting fresh meat in the pressure cooker and just letting it sit around for a couple of hours before cooking it. Some may say the cooking process would kill all the germs formed, but I prefer not to take the chance. Again, this would be great for some items as those mentioned above and beans.
If there is a short power outage, it will automatically restart. This is a good feature if you need to take a quick run to the store or go outside to do some yard work. It is also helpful if you set the timer to start when you are gone and the power fails for a short time.
There is a way you can also program cooking without using one of the programmable buttons. Perhaps you want to cook something that you just don’t think any of the buttons will meet your requirements. You can set your own cooking time.
It is super quiet until you release the pressure. And if you have never used a pressure cooker before, this one is easy to use. The manual with easy to follow directions are in a PDF file online along with some delicious recipes.
If you want recipes just look online or buy one of the many great cookbooks available. With pressure cookers becoming so popular over the past few years, there has been a renaissance in pressure cooking. You can get recipes for almost anything
This is a very popular pressure cooker for those heading off to college. This is a way to encourage your college student to eat healthy instead of all the pizza and burgers. Once they starting using this and find out how quickly food cooks, they will use it. Don’t forget to buy them a couple of cookbooks to go along with it.
As mentioned before there are two sturdy handles on each side, but an added safety feature is the long handle on top. This pressure cooker is safe because with all these handles it is easy to handle given its size. Safety is no longer something to be feared. The new generation of pressure cookers have become so popular because the manufacturer’s have worked hard on safety. Now that the safety issues have been addressed, pressure cookers have become very popular as a time saver. They have also become popular because this type of cooking is healthier and more nutritious.
The lid has a seal that forms an airtight environment for when pressure builds up. The pressure is regulated by a valve on top of the lid. There is a second backup in case food particles get it clogged. Remember to wash the pressure cooker after each use by referring to the manual. Any food around the valve area needs to be thoroughly cleaned.
There is a condensation cup found on the lid after opening. This is the reason for the quietness of the pressure cooker. There is no steam released while cooking. If you have small children in the kitchen with you, you may like this safety feature.
