Cherry Juice–The Health Drink that everyone is now Drinking

Cherry juice seems to be good for a lot of different things.  You may want to consider switching over to it for your early morning drink to reap its benefits.

Many runners reported that if they drank 2 glasses a day for a week before a race they had significantly less muscle soreness.  This test gave another group of runners a red juice to drink and they reported higher muscle soreness.  Research suggests that drinking cherry juice helps muscles that have gone through a strength-training workout recover faster.

This power produce is rich in antioxidants called anthocyanins. Selena Ahmed, PhD, at Tufts University who studies plant antioxidants says “Studies suggest that eating cherries has the potential to lower heart disease risk.”  This is a great reason to eat as many as you want when they are available.

If you have sleep problems, research has found if you drink a glass 30 minutes to an hour before bedtime you will sleep better.  Another sleep research study in the European Journal of Nutrition found that adults who had sleep problems were helped by drinking 2 glasses a day. They slept longer and had uninterrupted sleep.

Scientists recommend that the tart cherry is the best kind to drink.  The best cherry that will give the best benefits is the Montmorency cherry.  Fortunately, these cherries are in abundant supply and are in stores everywhere.

cherry juiceSome people that have arthritis buy the tart cherries and make their own cherry juice at home in a juicer.  Many report it helps to relieve the arthritis pain.  If this is your problem, you may want to try this because it might help you reduce the amount of medications you take.

The juice from one cup of cherries provides 1,644mg of Vit. C.  This is 27 times of the RDA.  This vitamin is known to help with skin conditions and destroy free radicals in your body.  It is a water soluble vitamin and needs to be replaced everyday.

These are certainly more than enough reasons to give cherry juice a try.
